Founder Melvin Schwarz announced the launch on X the same day. The customer is undisclosed; the deployment model is not.
Work first, autonomy later
Nucleus argues the industry waits too long for full autonomy. Its approach: put robots on factory floors under human supervision from day one, performing real tasks while collecting operational data.

Three-step deployment
Nucleus describes a repeatable pipeline:
- 3D scan the customer's facility and workstations
- Simulate workflows to find bottlenecks and robot configuration
- Deploy with remote human supervisors for roughly the first three weeks while robots do paid work
Supervisors guide difficult moments; robots generate training data throughout.
Hardware choices
Rather than building a new humanoid from scratch, Nucleus currently uses Unitree G1 platforms in branded protective suits — focusing engineering on software, deployment, and task-specific end effectors.
Interesting Engineering reported a customer task requiring fingertip box removal from shelves; Nucleus designed custom end effectors instead of relying on stock hands.
Service model, not robot sales
Customers pay for physical work by the hour. Nucleus handles deployment, supervision, and operations.
Schwarz has described the product as "physical labor" — shifting capex and integration risk off manufacturers facing labor shortages.
Team pedigree
The company says its engineers previously worked at CERN, ESA, 1X, NEURA Robotics, and Agile Robots.
What is not disclosed
Public reporting notes Nucleus has not published robot counts, autonomy percentages, intervention rates, or productivity metrics for the first site. Scale claims — aiming for one of the world's largest deployed humanoid fleets by end of 2027 — remain forward-looking.
Why it matters
Europe's industrial labor gap is structural. Nucleus bets supervised revenue today funds autonomy tomorrow — a different clock than demo-first humanoid programs.
If the hourly model holds, the competitive moat may be proprietary factory datasets, not foundation models alone — a thesis Nucleus states explicitly.
